Essex Cares Apprenticeship Scheme

The innovative new social care apprenticeship programme for Essex Cares has already introduced 10 enthusiastic and motivated young adults to a rewarding and worthwhile career in social care

The young apprentices are given the opportunity to work across all the services within Essex Cares, giving them a well rounded knowledge of social care.

In addition to the NVQ qualifications gained through the scheme, the apprenticeship scheme will hopefully lead to future employment opportunities within Essex Cares for the apprentices.

Daniella works at the Chelmsford Resource Centre as an apprentice:

“As a social care apprentice I work one to one with service users in the centre as well as taking them out to places like the gym and out bowling to help them develop their skills and give them activities to focus on.

"Essex Cares offers me a lot of support as an apprentice both with my NVQ qualifications and ensuring that I am progressing well with a regular monthly visit. I really enjoy the work that I do here, it’s great to see all the service users every day and I hope to continue to work in social care for many years to come.”

Ella works at Newport House in Great Baddow as an apprentice:

"I started my business administration apprenticeship on 31st of August last year in the Health & Safety team. After nearly 3 months with the H&S team, I was then transferred to the HR team in November 2010 to help out with the In House Bank post. After the initial few months there it was then decided I would stay with the HR team to complete my apprenticeship and gain my NVQ Level 2 which I was delighted about.

My apprenticeship with the HR team involves a wide range of duties. Some of the types of things that I do on a daily basis include: sending out application forms, recording them when they come in on to a spreadsheet, answering the recruitment phone line, sending out reference requests and also sending out interview letters.

I have enjoyed every minute of my apprenticeship and feel I have gained a lot more confidence in myself and my work and have been trained up excellently. I would 100% recommend to people to do an apprenticeship with Essex Cares as I feel it is a brilliant opportunity. Lastly I would like to say a big thank you to Essex Cares and most importantly the HR team for helping me towards my NVQ."
